- 2km west of Highway QE2 freeway
- Adjacent to Highway 2A and CP Railroad
The hamlet of Springbrook was established in 1995 and currently has a population of over 1000 residents. It is home of Red Deer International Air Show and the focal point of transportation and military history.
Cancorp Property Group's development project consists of an ultimate transformation of the former military air base, named CFB Penhold Air Base in 1971. In 1990, CPB Penhold was downgraded to a detachment of CFB Edmonton. Most operations ceased in 1992 and completely closed down in 1995 when it was sold to private developers, Cancorp Property Group.
The development of the former CPB Penhold Air Base lands will result in an ultimate buildout that will house 5,000 - 6,000 people. The plan maintains the hamlet's character and promotes its heritage.
